各単語と表現の説明

the rest of ～
- 意味：残りの～
- 例文：
  - I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.（残りの一日を楽しんで）
  - I am adding the rest of them. （それらの残りを足していきます）
  - I keep the rest of it for tomorrow.（明日のためにそれ残しとく）
sufficient（形容詞）
- 意味：十分な
- 例文：
  - It should be sufficient.（それで十分なはず）
  - The size is sufficient for 10 people.（10人ならそのサイズで十分）
  - I don't have sufficient time to complete it.（十分な時間がない）
- メモ："enough"に代替可能
as a substitute
- 意味：代わりに、代替として
- 例文：You can use chicken as a substitute.（代わりにチキンを使ってもよい）
Lastly（副詞）
- 意味：最後に
- 例文：
  - Lastly, I will add soy sauce.（最後に醤油をいれます）
  - Lastly, I want to talk about this. （最後にこれについて話したい）
- メモ："finally"はどちらかというと"やっと最後に"のニュアンスがある
thick（形容詞）
- 意味：味が濃厚な、こってりした（スープなど液体に対して使う）
- 例文：
  - The soup is thick.（スープ濃厚だね）
  - The Cho Kotteri Ramen's broth is incredibly thick.（出汁がめっちゃこってりしてる）
  - If the soup is too thick, add some more water.（味が濃すぎるなら、少し水足して）
- メモ：逆に薄味のスープとかには"thin"が使用される。なお、料理の味が濃いは"strong"を使用する。
stir（自動詞 / 他動詞）
- 意味：かきまぜる / ～をかきまぜる
- 例文：
  - Add the sugar and stir until boiling.（砂糖加えて沸騰するまでかき混ぜて）
  - Stir well.（よくかきまぜて）
  - Stir it for 5 minutes.（5分かきまぜて）
simmer（自動詞 / 他動詞）
- 意味：弱火でぐつぐつ（ことこと）煮える、～をぐつぐつと煮る
- 例文：
  - Let it simmer for about 30 minutes.（約30分煮て）
  - It's simmered potatoes and pork.（それはじゃがいもと豚肉を煮込んだものです）　
- メモ："boil"は"強火で煮る"の意味
a dash of～
- 意味：少量の～
- 例文：Add a dash of pepper.（コショウを少々加える）
increase the heat
- 意味：火を強くする、温度を上げる
- 例文：I am going to increase the heat.
scoop（他動詞）
- 意味：（スプーンなどで）～をすくう
- 例文：Scoop the soup.
cast-iron pot（名詞）
- 意味：鉄鍋
hydrate（動詞）
- 意味：～に水分を与える
- 例文：
  - Hydrate yourself enough in the summer.（夏なので十分に水分とって）
  - Keep yourself hydrated.（水分補給はしっかりね）
close（動詞）
- 意味：～をしめる
- 例文：Close it for a while.（しばらくの間ふたをしめときましょう）
seperate A into B
- 意味：AをBに分ける
- 例文：You need to seperate it into two different pots.（2つの鍋にそれを分けて）
- メモ："seperate"は"混ざっているものを引き離す・切り離す・分離させる（距離を置く）"イメージで"divide"は"一つのものを均等に分割する"イメージ。
piping hot（形容詞）
- 意味：あつあつの
- 例文：It is a piping hot dish.（それはあつあつの料理だ）
