各単語と表現の説明
- of good quality
- 意味：良質の
- 例文：
- It has to be of good quality.（良質なものでなければならない）
- It is considered to be of good quality.
- メモ：形容詞的に使われる
- string（名詞）
- 意味：糸、弦、糸状のもの
- tie～（他動詞）
- 意味：～を結ぶ
- 例文：
- Use a string to tie it.（糸状のものを使ってそれを結ぶ）
- Who can tell me how to tie a roast?
- Hold on, let me just tie my shoes.（ちょっと待って、靴ひも結ばせて）
- pouch（名詞）
- 意味：小袋、ポーチ
- 例文：
- They are already in the pouch.
- I like to keep it in the small pouch so I don't lose it.
- I keep all of my makeup in the pouch.
- メモ：カンガルーのお腹の袋も"pouch"という
- tip（名詞）
- 意味：先端、先っぽ
- 例文：
- I am going to cut the tip off.（先っぽを切り落とす）
- It's on the tip of my tongue.（のどまででかかっている）
- be done with～
- 意味：～を終える、～を完了する、～との関係を断つ
- 例文：
- I am done with all the preparation.（準備できました）
- I am almost done with my first draft.（ほとんど初稿は完成してます）
- I am done with my work now.（仕事今終わりました）
- Are you done with it?（それ終わった？）
- I am done with you.（お前にはうんざりだ）
- I am done with smoking.（タバコを断つ）
- fall off the bone / fall-off-the-bone
- 意味：肉が骨から落ちる、やわらかい
- 例文：
- This is falling off the bone!（これめっちゃやわらかい）
- The meat falls off the bone.（肉めっちゃやわらかい）
- メモ："めちゃくちゃ肉がやわらかい！"を表現するときに意外と使われる表現。その他"やわらかい"には"soft"や"tender"が使われる。
- succulent（形容詞）
- 意味：（肉汁が多く）ジューシーな
- 例文：
- The meat is succulent and tender.
- The meat is so succulent that it will melt in my mouth.（口の中でとろけるほどジューシーだ）
- メモ："succulent"の代わりに"juicy"も使える。
- broth（名詞）
- 意味：だし（出汁）
- 例文：
- It has a very flavorful broth.（めっちゃコクのある出汁だ）
- The ramen broth is made from these ingredients.（そのラーメンの出汁はこれらの材料から作られている）
- This is broth for chicken soup.
- The broth is made from what?
- メモ：ちなみに"鶏ガラスープ"は"chicken broth"
- chunk（名詞）
- 意味：（肉の）塊
- cut～into samller pieces
- 意味：～を小さく切る
- 例文：You need to cut them into smaller pieces.
- bite size / bite sized（形容詞）
- 意味：一口サイズの
- 例文：
- I will cut this into bite sized pieces.
- It's bite sized.（それは一口で食べれる）
- メモ："You can eat it in one bite"も"一口で食べれる"の意味
- or else
- 意味：さもないと
- 例文：You'd better leave now, or else you'll miss your plane.
- boil～（他動詞）
- 意味：～を煮込む
- 例文：You need to boil it for 2 hours.
- inside tip（名詞）
- 意味：（あんまり知られていない）ためになる情報、とっておきの情報
- 例文：
- This is an inside tip for you.（とっておきの情報です）
- Just a little bit of inside tip.
- メモ："inside knowledge"もほとんど同意
